Kirsty Lowry - Unease & Order

A selected series of installation works examining our psychological relationships to weather. The works play with a bleak beauty and probe at our climate anxieties.

In Adverse Weather Conditions (2015) ambiguous drawings of brooding skies sit alongside floating weather balloons, crackling recordings of thunder and sculptural objects that take their form from meteorological equipment.

In Experiments in Unease and Order (2011), fabricated rain pours onto a table and chairs, at once meditative and intrusive. A 17hz infrasonic tone, attributed to inducing a sense of unease, plays through a 4-meter long subwoofer.

In Light Café (2011 & 2012) looming sculptural lampshades house full spectrum bulbs, offering light therapy to ease the disquiet of the surrounding darkness.
